The Mintra ECITB-approved online training courses are designed for existing workers to refresh their theoretical knowledge before taking the ECITB Technical Tests.

On completion of the course you will automatically receive a Mintra certificate. Your ECITB-approved certificate will be generated on the following Monday morning.

Who is the course for?

This ECITB-approved Small Bore Tubing Training Course is aimed at individuals who are preparing to take the ECITB Small Bore Tubing knowledge test.

Is previous experience required?

It is expected that as a participant in this course, you will have received formal training in working with small bore tubing and fittings and that you hold suitable qualifications. Completion of this course alone does not qualify you for the ECITB standard.

How will the course benefit me?

Incorrectly assembled small bore tubing components are the second-largest single source of hydrocarbon releases. This course will help you understand how to work with small bore tubing assemblies in their entirety; from P&IDs to tubing and support systems. It will identify potential problems with small bore tubing assemblies and enable you to mitigate these problems by following the correct procedures.

How will the course benefit my company?

This course is aligned with the knowledge sections of The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) SBT Training Standards:

• TSBT01: Assemble and Install: Focuses on the safe installation of twin ferrule fittings, tube preparation and support systems.
• TSBT02: Disassemble, Fault Find and Reassemble: Teaches how to inspect assemblies, identify faults, safely dismantle and reassemble components.
• TSBT03: Cone and Thread Installation: Covers assembly using cone and thread fittings, typically used in high-pressure systems.
• TSBT04: Pressure Testing: Involves pressure testing of SBT systems using hand pumps, air-driven pumps and pneumatic test methods.

Is there an assessment?

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%. Note that passing the assessment does not mean that you are certified to the ECITB standard, but are ready to take the knowledge test and practical course.

On completion of this training, learners will be awarded an ECITB Certificate of Training. This confirms attendance and learning but does not confirm competence.
Learners who wish to be recognised as competent must complete a formal ECITB technical test.
Those who successfully pass the practical assessment will receive an ECITB Certificate of Achievement, which is valid for 3 years.

• Explain why expansion loops are required in tubing runs
• Recognise the support systems for SBT assemblies
• Describe the correct use of clamps
• Explain why vibration is a concern in SBT assemblies and how it can be minimised

Assessment

End of course exam with an 80% pass mark.
